GEOLOGY OF SHOES

What to do with leftovers? Barbora Veselá knows ...

These beautiful shoes are designed by London based designer Barbora Veselá. She has layered-up leftover scraps of leather to create striations inspired by patterns of sediment layers of erosive processes in nature.
For her ‘Geology of shoes’ collection she’s used traditional shoe making techniques and has developed special construction methods.

She built up the shape of the shoes piece by piece by overlapping spare strips of leather suede-side-up around a traditional last. Then she sanded down the scraps to create the final forms and reveal the rippled layers. That makes each shoe unique!

A good example of being creative with leftovers. I really love this work!
