‘From the Knees of my Nose to the Belly of my Toes’ is the full title of this surrealistic installation by Alex Chinneck. It seems like the façade is sliding down into the front yard.
In fact, he removed the front façade of a detached four-storey house and replaced it with a brand new one that leaves the top floor exposed and curves outwards so the bottom section lies flat on the front yard.
Alex Chinneck initiated the project himself and spent 12 months convincing companies to help him realize this installation. And it is pure craftsmanship, curved façade, door and windows!! Not so easy … The installation itself came together in just six weeks by assembling prefabricated panels.
‘From the Knees of my Nose to the Belly of my Toes’ will remain in place for a year, before the building is converted for use as housing.
